Was she beautiful, the girl on the till
Or was it the freshness of youth that glowed
From her cheeks and the brightness of her eyes,
Perhaps even her wavy flaxen hair
That made me look as she counted tickets
For bargain buys I’d saved for weeks and weeks?
'Got your own bags?'
'Need any help with packing?'
Just another supermarket girl.
And then she smiled at me.
